Our founder, Matt, explains the deliberate, user-centric strategy behind SubHound.

The Right Tool for the Job.

We believe a web browser is the best place to find financial clarity. Here’s the philosophy behind our product and a look at our roadmap.

One of the most common and important questions I get is, "Why can't I download SubHound on the App Store?"

The honest answer is that a beautiful, native iOS app is a huge part of our future. But the reason we launched as a web application first is not an accident; it is a deliberate, user-centric decision based on one core principle: the best possible onboarding experience happens in the right environment, and for now, that means a desktop.

The Real Challenge Isn't Tracking; It's Onboarding.

The hardest part of getting your recurring costs under control isn't checking a dashboard; it's the initial, focused work of building it. It's the "financial archaeology" of digging through your life to find every subscription, bill, and renewal. For most people, this takes around 15-25 minutes.

This process often involves:

Opening multiple browser tabs to check your bank statements.

Searching through your email inbox for receipts and welcome emails.

Finding physical paper bills you've filed away.

Logging into various apps and services to find the exact renewal date.

We call this the "Clarity Session." It's a powerful, one-time task that sets the foundation for an entire year of financial peace of mind. Our product philosophy is built around making this session as calm and efficient as possible.

Why a Browser Tab is the Perfect "Command Centre"

We chose to perfect our web application first because a desktop or laptop environment is fundamentally better suited for this focused, investigative work.

1. A Full Keyboard is Non-Negotiable.
Trying to type dozens of service names, costs, and specific renewal dates on a tiny mobile touchscreen is a frustrating, error-prone experience. A proper keyboard makes this initial data entry faster, easier, and more accurate.

2. A Larger Screen Provides True Clarity.
Your financial life is complex. A desktop browser gives you the screen real estate to see the big picture. You can have your SubHound dashboard open in one tab, your email in another, and your online banking in a third. Trying to juggle this on a single, small mobile screen adds unnecessary stress.

3. It's Universally Accessible.
The web is the only truly universal platform. SubHound is instantly available to anyone with a browser, whether you're on a Windows PC, a MacBook at home, or a Chromebook. There are no app stores and no platform-specific limitations. Our magic link system means you can securely access your dashboard from any trusted computer.

What About Mobile?

A Fully Responsive Experience: The SubHound web app has been designed to work beautifully in the mobile browser on your phone when you are on the go. You can easily view your dashboard, set an alert, or even add a new payment.

Your Personal "App" Icon: For an even better experience, you can add SubHound to your phone's home screen. It will function much like a native app, giving you instant, full-screen access to your dashboard.

Our Roadmap: The Future is Native

Let me be clear: a fast, beautiful, and deeply integrated native iOS app is a critical part of our long-term vision.

We are building it right now.

Our strategy is to perfect the core engine—the database, the alert system, the user experience—on the robust and flexible platform of the web first. This ensures that when our mobile app arrives, it will be a truly calm, reliable, and powerful companion to your main dashboard, complete with the mindful push notifications you'd expect from us.

We are taking the most considered and user-focused path to building a service that is not just powerful, but a genuine pleasure to use.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
